London (Again)

I left Granada, Spain and flew into London—Heathrow Airport to be specific. I planned to meet up with a friend for dinner and needed to take the Tube to Leicester Square. With my Oyster Card in hand, I went to top up…and then accidentally shoved my debit card into the slot for notes. Wow. My attempts to remove it were unsuccessful and after two officials tried to help me, I realized…I had tweezers in my bag. Swag. With enough yanking, it was out!

I arrived at the restaurant and after eating with my friend and her squad, we were booted out. Apparently the place was so poppin’ that it had a fair share of reservations for that evening. This was not good news for me as I had scheduled an important Skype call for that time and wanted to have the conversation while seated. Walking in the streets of London, I was on Wi-Fi but for some odd reason could not make myself “available” on Skype. I tried. My friend tried. No luck. I was logged in, but other users could not contact me. But, my friend had her laptop so we stopped at a nearby coffee shop…I logged in…I had missed three of his calls! Thankfully, he was still logged in and I was able to call him. And guess what. I got the job! I celebrated that night and was yet again reminded how 2AM seems to come so quickly every time I go out.

The next morning, I ate brunch at Half Cup and took this pic with the cute London filter!

(I know what you’re thinking. It’s coffee, not tea, how can this be?! Trust, my hashtag is still going strong.)

Later that day, I took the classic tourist photo with Big Ben in the background and my photo was featured on the Instagram of Black Girls Travel Too!

I listened to the Songs at Westminster Abbey and passed Darwin’s grave. I would have seen Newton’s too, but I forgot to ask while inside and due to the time, I was not permitted to reenter.

But cheering up, I went to Harrods with my fellow Cornell friends. And when I say went, I mean this in the most literal sense. I walked in and felt my savings account and the accounts of my future kids disappear. Although I didn’t buy anything, here’s a cool Snapchat of me posing with dogs that reminded me of my two Frenchies!

As far as more pictures, my friends and I attempted to take the classic Beatles photo at Abbey Road and we redefined playing in traffic. It wasn’t until we scrolled through the photos that we realized we should have just posed in the road rather than seeking the candid look. Buuuttt here’s the best shot! (…I guess I can’t always get in formation.)

I ate fish and chips for dinner that night. Classic or cliché? Delicious.

You know what was also delicious? *Waka Flocka Flame voice* BRRRIIICCCKK LAAAAANEEE!!! I highly recommend spending a Sunday morning there eating to your heart’s (and stomach’s) content! I didn’t take any photos, but hey, there’s Google if you want to see.

My last photo from my trip is so me. So Kea. So Tea. Cheers to Yumchaa.
