Ep. 12: Life After College

0:00
Welcome to this episode of Tea With Kea. I’m your host and I have two lovely guests with me today. Hi, I’m Birinder and I’m Nur. If you guys remember him from Good NURning.

0:15
Oh God, yeah, I did one episode with her YouTube channel. I actually did not know about that. So check it out it has about how many views because I have you know, I don’t know that good. We don’t have all the clients because we can watch you. That’s true. That’s true. Actually. I didn’t tell them about that video. I said, so I totally forgot about that. Okay. We’re gonna fill in later. Yeah.

0:43
So you know how we do first off you know, we don’t say what we sipping on. My cup of the day is pomegranate raspberry tea. It smells intoxicating. sounds fancy. Isn’t isn’t kitchen.

1:00
The kitchen I’ve actually had a couple of times. I’m just sipping on water. You know, trying to be healthy out here. Just had some pizza.

1:08
Right? I too. Am sipping on water. It’s very refreshing. and nice. stuff. My grandmother used to say water, stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah. Where’s your where’s she from? She’s from Jersey, but she was raised in Virginia.

1:29
She got that good water. So my appraisal of job?

1:34
Well in America, they call it Chai try. Oh my god. That’s my favorite. Actually. I was tempted to be like, chat, or get Chai. I mean, yeah. Yeah. Was this weird? Because people will say, let’s get chai tea. that annoys me because that’s what you say.

1:50
Because try is t like that’s the definition. So when people say let’s go try to even sing let’s get TT. So. Okay. So kind of dive into how we know each other. Yeah. So we actually all work together at pure cars in Atlanta. Brenda should sex to me. Please don’t come find me. That’s what is. That’s what yeah, that’s funny. And you and I can’t we can’t or we started at the same almost the same time. Yeah, yeah. So let what a year and some change a few months.

2:27
Yeah. It was September of 2017. Yeah. I read it this summer. Right after I graduated. Yeah. Mostly you came here after you graduated. 201. Right. After I went home, like for the summer I just like did nothing like for fun. Okay.

2:44
But yeah, and then. Okay, so you were still, you were still working? You were still in college.

2:50
I was still in college. So I was an intern when I first came here. I think I started I started on October 1. I don’t know how I remember that. I just do. Um, yeah. And then I met Knorr because he was right next to me, he would tell me what to do. That sounds so good. You know, but honestly, like the first day I came here, Vinson was like just kind of asked me to work, what to do and stuff like that. minson is my manager. So yeah, more was kind of like, my go to person for work and stuff. And then I don’t know how we met.

3:17
I think it was kind of just like your brain in the hall. Like I saw

3:21
you. And then like, I remember at the holiday party, I was like, cuz I’m in a joke. I was like, are you holding on to drink alcohol?

3:28
It’s totally gone. So I don’t know. I think that was like two days after you graduated, I think. Yeah, it kinda was. Yeah, I like just graduated. And then I had like, the holiday party. Once you’re done, I went to Kennesaw State University. I’m gonna mask Africa. It’s really ugly. Yeah, exactly. I will never read. Kennesaw State University. I went to Georgia State first. I love that place. Okay, wait, why did you switch to my parents? But that’s a story for another time. All right. All right. Well, hey, you made it out. And we’re out here.

4:01
So I guess this is a great segue to our topic of the day, life after college. Yeah, I’m literally like, fresh off the wounds still do.

4:14
So I kind of like, I feel as if all three of us have a different experience of life after college. I think I’m much older than you guys. Like I’m 2622 23 sketchy on my early years. I know you guys are here apart. So I was in college for like, longer than you guys because I just did what I did. You know, change majors, that sort of thing. But yeah, how’s it how’s it still going? Yeah, I know, I’m alive. I’m working as

4:46
president we have a job. I know when I graduated, I had like,

4:52
I felt like I was on top of the mountain. You know, like, oh my god. This is like the greatest thing ever. I’m like the smartest I’ll ever be now or something. That, and I think was in me told, like two months after, like I couldn’t find a job. I’m like, I’m not. I’m not the shed anymore. Like this is tough, especially because I went to school. Well, first of all, I went to school with Maxwell state grad. That’s my alma mater. And I moved to Atlanta. Huge difference. And it was kind of tough. Like I moved home and everything I started like bartending and waitressing. Yeah, for like, I smell cool for like two or three months. And then he telling me about that. Yeah. And then I went to, like a home warranty call center kind of place for like four months. And then I finally got the job here. But there’s some struggle. But moving home was like, the weirdest thing for me, really has them because like, I was not living at home for five years. And then I moved home. And then it’s just like, the things that I was used to because it’s a it’s, it’s weird, because it’s your home, right? So you think, Oh, you know, my bedroom and stuff. But now my bedroom back turns into like a guest bedroom for other people and everything. And I said my bed. Yeah, you did.

6:11
And it was just like,

6:15
I don’t know. My mom was like, so but that job and I’m like, it’s I’m looking. I’m like, cuz I’ll be on my computer half the time and my foreign parents was like, Oh, you’re supposed to be looking at a bit more of ads on the newspaper and stuff was just like, oh, how’s life after you graduate from pristine university where she graduated from Cornell? You know, I’m not even equipped.

6:43
That’s the thing. Mostly when I first moved to Atlanta, and people would ask me where I went, I would just say, out of state, because like, you know, people like have this brand reaction. I’m sorry, but we have to rename this podcast to I went to Cornell. That’s what you don’t like that. People like, they treat me like they screwed it up. That’s it, man. I wanna record Nicholas McCullough. Whatever, you know. But anyway, um, yeah. So. Okay, so going back to your feeling about being on time. So here’s the thing, like going to school I went to when I graduated, like spit on Everest. No, no. No. So I was like, Yeah, I did it. Yeah. So like, I was a lazy ask me here. And I did. I was like, found out originally. And then graduation came out, like when we’re done. So it was like, Yeah, I graduated. But I was like, good together. But my mother, she loves me. We’re best friends. So like, I went back home. And at the time, like, my room was like, still there. Yeah, it was fine. But I kind of fell into this. I think we kind of touched on this like in our good morning episode. But there was this group me for it was called goddesses like Goddess is 2017 or whatever. Because the black female population at Cornell is so small. Group me for all my friends posted a link for this Google partner talent program. Did that program. First time I standard Atlanta and met my two future bosses. And it was hard moving because actually, let me tell y’all, cuz you’re not from Georgia. Now. I’m from North Carolina. I drove a u haul by myself for the first time. Got some friends to help me. Move on. It could be a law, it could be a live episode. My advice to y’all don’t rush.

8:35
Or I guess we can do another podcast called advice. After college and then even that, like, or even advice during college, I have a ton of advice during college. So when you say Don’t rush like don’t rush school.

8:48
Oh, no, don’t rush in terms of like, we’re young. You know, you’ll eventually find a job when it comes to an apartment Don’t rush and buying an apartment because I didn’t know like, where to live and like where I maybe did not want to live. You know, like because I’m traffic and all that. So, but don’t rush but also do the open until like opportunities. So, you know, I met cool people. Obviously, I’m sitting with them. And, yeah, it’s a good job. It’s a good city. It’s grueling. There’s always stuff to do. So how long after you graduated? Did you get the job here? So I started the program in July. And then I think Cody gave me the offer like on August 25, like three days after my birthday.

9:38
Birthday. Oh, yeah. And here we are. So So what’s your breakfast? I mean, you said you graduated. How’s it

9:50
so we’re kind of all here.

9:52
Yeah. What’s your life here after you graduate? I know

9:54
you came to work.

9:57
After graduation, I guess I came back off track a little bit, but I, so I went to intern at Nationwide in Ohio. And I came back and I was like I needed, I needed another job. I’ve basically been interning my whole college career, and I guess we can go into that afterwards. But, um, so I was like, I need a job. And I came back. So I go on LinkedIn, and you know, do my little, you know, apply whatever, whatever. I work for this company. I shouldn’t name it. But I go to this company, and it’s making phone calls to truck drivers. Hey, have you made it on the lot? Hey, have you picked up? Stuff like that?

10:39
And

10:40
no, I think I know the company because you probably know the company. It’s like, Ah, no, it was nice. I

10:46
will let you know afterwards. But, um, so I had to be there at seven in the morning, every day. It was in Alpharetta. And so I would get my butt up. And I would go and like the first two days, I was like, What am I doing with my life? Like I would get on the phone? I’d be like, I’m like, Hey, have you made it to LA? And I’m like, am I learning anything from this? No, like, no. And like, you had to make certain calls a number of days and stuff like that. So I think I lasted a week, the week after that, I would text my manager and be like, I’m sorry, I have to study. And I would tell her the day off. Then he got to the point where I wasn’t even going to work. I mean, it just stopped that bad. I literally go sit on her. And she would like I wouldn’t even tell her like I would tell her like to and be like Sorry, I didn’t make it work today. I had something that came up literally the worst job in the world. Then I, I worked at a prior automotive agency. You might know forest marketing, maybe, probably about but maybe we work here, nothing. But I remember when I was at Forest marketing, and I knew about you guys, and I heard about you guys. And I was like, Well, I have automotive experience. And maybe they’ll take me. So I go into your cars website. And there’s like an intern opening and like, holy crap, like, I

11:56
need to hop on this. Like, I mean, I know my stuff like I can help you guys out. So I go ahead and apply. I go on LinkedIn, I hit up the HR person’s name Cody Nelson, surely some

12:10
somebody like that. I think it was Alex, this is a little longer.

12:14
So I hit up, Alison, I’m like, please, like, I have experience. I’m motivated. I want to be an intern for you guys. And I think the whole process took three days.

12:24
You are quick. That you got hurt. I remember. Like I remember you interviewing like I passed by the office where they’re giving your interview. Yeah. And then the next day you’re here. I’m like, they made me on the string for two months. I was on the way Really? Yeah. How long? Were you on the wait list?

12:45
Okay, so I actually applied to position on the ad ops team. But I had met Jared and Keith and they were like, We want you on our team. So it wasn’t that long, because when I met them, it was I think August 3 was the last day of the program. And I was I got the offer on the 25th. So I thought like three weeks.

13:08
Yeah. Okay, so the longest like literally came in, I actually had like, my emails weren’t coming through. And apparently like they already scheduled my interviews for Sunday. And I didn’t come and I was like, hey, like, let me know when my interview scheduled. They’re like, wherever you scheduled it, but you never showed up. And I was like, why? And I was like, here, for here. Yeah. And I freaked out. And I was like, I messed it up. I mess it up, whatever. And then she rescheduled it. I came in I met with Alex Patrick Benson, Jeff Allen. Other people like But no, it was really good in Vinton called me the next day, and he was like, Yeah, yeah, you got it. I kind of had a feeling. But hey, yeah, so then I came here and then um, I mean, I worked for like, what, two more months till I graduated in December. And then Vincent would like to tell me like I’m on a one on ones like, I mean, you have a job here, whatever. Like, like nationwide because like nationwide offered me a job to buy this. Yes. I got like three offers from there one in Kentucky, Arizona, in California, and then in Ohio. But I couldn’t take those which I’ll explain another podcast.

14:19
So I am so obviously we’re all working. You still fresh so you haven’t but I think for me and kiandra I guess I guess a social aspect. Yes. The social aspect is really huge. I went from I think my senior year I had three classes that’s it. I only have three classes so I had so much free time so I would work but at the same time I would like hang out go to bed at like two or three in the morning. Just you know always hanging out with people that was because I’m a very extroverted obviously. Yes, I’m very extrovert person. So I’m always saying and like I had, it was a small town. So you know, there was a left Never start over anything. So we just like, walk over. Hey, what’s up dude and kind of thing and now I can barely make a demand night. I wake up at five in the morning. Oh, yeah. It’s like most nights. Yeah. And it’s crazy because like when I go out for dinner me going out now is like a nice dinner with friends. And I get like sometimes Oh, I really want to just go home. And yeah, and like that’s to me. It’s like the perfect night now versus me two years ago. Or, hey, let’s go tomorrow or

15:37
something like that. That hit me hard after even though I just got fresh out of college. Like I tell you like I come to work tired and exhausted. Because I’m so used to. I used to go to sleep at two to three. Yes, sir. went to sleep at 10 I woke up at I slept through the whole night and I’m still tired.

15:55
I actually was it two weeks ago. I was just showing my players a Friday night. And I was at home. This is like 1030 and Savannah, my girlfriend. She was like, whew, I’m going to bed was kind of late. And I’m like, I felt like no, it’s Friday night. I need at least stay up to two o’clock doing something. And like, I like to watch documentaries and stuff. I didn’t I wasn’t doing I wasn’t drinking. I wasn’t doing anything notice. And I was just like, I need to do this because I used to do it. But now I can’t. How was it for you ganja?

16:26
I want you to say what do you just said hi to me, Ella, me. The other texted me yesterday. She was like, you know, when people say go hard or go home? She was like, Don’t tell me that because I am strongly tempted to go home like Yeah, but um, honestly, it’s been like a 180. And I want it to go for me. So I’m now in college, like all the time. Yeah, I was like, you know, out here, whatever. of Lady going ham. Welcome to Atlanta. Like, I don’t have any friends. Like, I had a friend from high school. And I had like, a couple friends from college. But other than that, like, I didn’t know anybody. So

17:05
let’s see, at least I came because I had family here when I moved to Alabama, like friends and cousins. But you came here. Yeah, no, anybody?

17:14
Yeah. And I have I have two cousins. But like, obviously, like, everyone has different schedules. And it’s like hard to coordinate. Yeah. So I didn’t really go out when I first came here. But yeah, the whole like being tired thing. It was it was hard to like, you know, get up. And I mean, obviously the class, we have breaks in between classes and penalty, you know, but if you don’t want to work,

17:36
the penalty is, hey, yeah, I

17:39
felt really tired a lot. And it was like hard to transition. But slowly but surely, which is one thing I like about your cards is that my co workers in addition to like, helping me like learn and transition into like, you know, working full time, also are really cool people. And, you know, we started hanging outside out of work, which helped me transition as well. So, you know, if you if you don’t know people in the city, in which you’ve got some built co workers that can live a good start, because then you start going out with them. And like one of my co workers Kiana so you guys know her because we’re

18:14
two peas in a pod.

18:16
I brought with her all the time when we leave work, go to the gym, and then we’ll like go out and party and my other co workers shallan who maybe I will get to hear her on one of these episodes. She also comes out with us too. And, you know, so I’m back in that like, I can be out here not going to rally with the rest of them. You know,

18:34
nothing wrong with Tinder. This is true. This is true. That is what I did in Ohio, actually, because I didn’t know anybody there. So yeah, you use Tinder to make friends.

18:46
I actually so I actually got friends out of it. Yeah. Oh, good friends. Yeah, cuz Tinder is not really like I’m sure the other guys are like, yeah. I know, actually, friends that I still talk to on a regular basis, just like Hey, what’s up? What would you have to? Oh, should you just review me? Yeah, I use Bumble. Like for like BFF girlfriends or whatever. You got on there? Yeah. What’s Bumble? So sorry, I’ve been in relationship for three years, two to two.

19:14
So on Bumble if you want to use it for relationships, when you match the girls have to message first right? And if you’re on the BFF version, then like it’s like girls can see girls and I can like message them versus you can message me for but I met four really cool girls off Bumble and like I’m still friends with them. So that was also something that helped with my transition, you guys

19:37
cuz I don’t want to say guys on the road would do that to be like, not so good. Like just guys in general guys being guys like we use the BFF do like, I’m guessing there’s like you said there’s a setting right? So yeah, works for guys. No, no, I haven’t actually been on Bumble. So so I think I maybe Is that the one where they have like 24 hours a message or something like that? Yeah, that’s the most degrading. And that was a guy on there. I felt like if no one messaged me within 24 hours I get like really depressed. You know?

20:14
It’s hard because like, not everyone goes on these apps like a whole day. You know, like sometimes I don’t check it in and week to week.

20:21
That’s true. Yeah, that’s what they do. But like, I don’t know if you guys use hinge. What if you don’t talk for two weeks? That like gets hidden? Oh, really? So

20:29
yeah, my friend actually in Ohio so in Ohio made a lot of friends after like that week of like, depressing this. But um, yeah, I’ve been a lot of friends in Ohio to actually just met one yesterday. But um, he got away. Yeah, he’s here for something. You know, the company Why? Oh, you’re training with them? What’s the one thing you miss about college? Time, literally time and sleep? I mean, even though I like had a job and had an internship, like I would come to work sometimes at like one, but like, I would have class at like 10 or something. But like, still I got to sleep. And then afterwards the next day like I could sleep late, and like go to work but then I know that I could take a nap

21:10
later on throughout the day.

21:12
I do miss snacks. Oh my god I love now what about what about Chico? What is the one thing actually I’m a I’ma say Santa just a shot this day. I still be napping. Okay, actually blank for like 10 seconds. In my car. On lunch break sometimes. One of my friends has met in between, like the stairwells and like our floor like the dead floor or you see the stairwell? Yes, I wouldn’t do that. Because like, I’m just gonna show a person. And people stare at her or something like, I know people walk up and down. People was short down in my in my car, like 20 minutes. And then I go home and ask for jobs. But to answer your question about what I missed the most. I miss proximity. You could walk to all your friends and knock on their door and be like, Hey, I’m here. You know, but in like a major metropolitan city. You can’t walk to all your friends doors, especially if you live

22:18
outside so that there’s terms I don’t know if y’all know this, you might not see me OTP as an OTP and ITP I used to live hell LTP I was like 14 my dad explained that so OTP is outside the perimeter of his perimeter like Atlanta like Midtown. Can you live in where I live Marietta? out so Marietta is like how much? What’s your what’s your drive to work? Like an hour and 10 minutes? So

22:42
you definitely. Oh, definitely.

22:48
So I live like in Midtown. So ITP Yeah. Which means like things are in the apartment in the Bronx. Yeah. And I just know that like to get anywhere in Atlanta. Like, let’s say from here to work, even though I live three miles away, it still takes me 1520 minutes. But like, let’s say if I were to go from like, work to five o’clock. Let’s say we’re on 17th Street. I want to go to like 14th street or not for Mr. Like 10th street or something down the normal. four miles. Yeah. Yeah, no. Yeah, it takes an hour to get from Atlanta to cuz sometimes I’ll go to Georgia State. Like I have friends there. But yeah, it’s that sense of Yeah, convenience.

23:37
But then another thing sorry, but like the thing that you guys lived away from home? I can’t relate to that. I lived at home my whole life. Well, I’m still here. Yeah, yeah, no, no, of course. That’s a plus. Yeah.

23:53
Um, I guess the one thing I miss about Providence? I guess it’s not free time. Yeah, it’s a free literally. Mike. My free like I have some lazy Sundays is my thing. I don’t do anything on Sundays. I try not to do anything on Sundays. But then I just get bored.

24:11
But it’s just like,

24:14
it was like almost I don’t know. It’s just like, especially my last semester, three classes. So one of them is online. So I kind of just, you know, in between stuff, you know, that he’s the one thing I don’t miss about college just being broke. Failing was like nonexistant say I didn’t I didn’t say that at all in college. I I think I I used to live next to Taco Bell which was read from a Walmart but I never made it to Walmart. So talk about what he’s got me every time. Yeah, and so like that dollar in like, like getting a $3 meal or whatever the little dog names and stuff. That’s what I used to do sometimes. Like

24:58
I wrote one more thing, and it’s about college. I’m sorry, being able to walk to the dining hall every day. Because

25:04
now you sneak into the dining hall with our friends on campus. Oh, this is so easy. So I know Georgia State, like they, they have a card that you tap. And it opens and she would just be like, behind me, like, just glue on to me. And our margins one person. Yeah.

25:21
I tried that at Georgia Tech. And they confiscated because some guy was like, Oh, just use mine. And then like, sure things and so I went in and they have their pictures on it. KSU does that. Yeah. And so obviously, this guy was white. I was blind.

25:36
You are all content? I don’t see color. It’s all audio.

25:41
And the lady was like, you can do this. And I’m just like, What do you mean, it was just like, you’re not Alex trone? Oh, yeah. So he got he didn’t get in trouble. But they got confiscated. I would be like, What are you trying to say? Like, is that not? Because I’m black?

26:04
That would have been my approval after that. Yo, you just reminded me. So like, we also you know, have like our ID cards and you know, our faces on the Did y’all have to take a slump to ask for the graduated a snow test. A slump is like slim, physically swimming. Yeah, no, no, I

26:19
had to take like some written exam to make sure I know how to write paragraphs. But don’t take any exam. pass your classes. Okay. Wait, hold on. Talk about this swimming class,

26:30
obviously. Okay. So basically, of course, there’s a bunch of water, there’s gorgeous. We go like gorgeous jumping in the summer. I didn’t learn how to swim until I went to college because I took the class and I like, What do you mean, I can’t get my diploma until I pass this on to what catch this. This one guy attracting? He took this one test four times because, like, all for the guys like they were also black males. And they were just like, Oh, yeah, like, okay, here’s your ID, whatever blue by bam. So that was just a case in which associate ideas didn’t work. I don’t know if those other guys have to learn how to swim. But what is it a requirement? I I’m using Okay, so I have told me apparently someone who gave a lot of money to the university, like one of their like relatives like passed away and like orders or something or when one of the lakes. I don’t know. Exactly. But there is a bunch of water because we sit on the Finger Lakes.

27:25
I do think I was just thinking about that. I do think, you know, learning to swim is a good skill to have a life skill. Yeah, like learning how to like tie your shoes. I don’t know. I don’t know how to swim. Oh my god. Okay.

27:43
You should want to know

27:44
when they’ll teach you this summer. I would love to but the funny thing is I did take swimming lessons. But my swimming instructor freaks me out because so it was like, I don’t know. 10 feet deep pool or something. And she’s like, Jump. Jump. You won’t drown? Who the hell is gonna jump into a 10 feet water with nobody there and telling me? I’m not going to do a poll with her. No, she was like, jump in. No. I’m not gonna jump. Oh, yeah. That’s how you want to swim. No, it’s not a nine year old child who’s like, confused.

28:17
That’s true. My dad just threw me in the pool was like I always. Huh? Oh, yeah. How old are you? 26? No, no. How old? Were you when he threw you in the pool? Oh, like 546 I don’t know. He swell. Huh? He’s on my resume. Wow. That’s like a my dad’s methods. My dad’s method of teaching me is literally like learning how to ride a bike. He just like we did treadmills, of course. But then he like, we didn’t do that thing where you take one train wall off and learn how to balance now. He just took him a while. I don’t recall. My friend, my friend Keith. He taught me how to ride a bike.

28:53
So I have a question was so since Cornell’s in New York. Yeah. I don’t know where Cornell is really located. I mean, I just looked I didn’t even know it was in New York. But did you guys want to city a lot.

29:04
So like yesterday? No. So my grandparents live in Brooklyn. Cornell, upstate New York. So it’s like when we would hop on the bus. It was like a four hour bus ride. What about the train? I never. I just always took the bus the short

29:18
line because it was really cheap. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And you you you have no respect for crosswalks. I see me across the street in the middle of jaywalking all the time. There’s no cars coming. There’s no reason. Georgia State was just crossed. I’ve gotten jaywalking tickets because of those. I’ve got Yeah, like UGA and stuff like that. That’s why I was picking on you because I know in New York, they don’t care about crosswalks.

29:43
Also it’s like your safety and numbers to like when the masses are going you’re not looking at the sign the matches are going to go up okay, all of us. And if they do, someone will see and then you will get the money. So you have to pay for intuition.

So Here’s a question actually, I asked a couple buddies of mine. If you had to go back to college. Well, we didn’t it’s like for high school, if you had a high school, or if you had to go back to college, what would be that one thing that you would change to make it easier or harder? You know, ask the guy or the girl out that you wanted to recover and study for that final that could have, I don’t know, you know, stressful situations.

30:27
I get a short answer. Short answer. I wouldn’t change anything because I believe in the butterfly, that long answer. So I like didn’t have a boyfriend while I was at college. But there were two guys that I liked. But like one of them, he was like, older than me. So like, he graduated, and I was like, okay, whatever. And it was crazy. Because like he actually sat two seats. He actually he sat near me and when my classes were, I was like, so nervous. I was like, I had butterflies anyways, you got you got one person like next to you and stuff. Okay, no, we used to not have class together. Like, we like party together. But then we had class and I was like, so we got with them. I was. And then the other guy. He was like, my year, but then he got girlfriends. I was like, obviously, I can’t say anything. So I guess I would be like, I go back and I’d be like, Oh, hey, you hate him. So what would you change?

31:21
It’s funny that I say that I have time but like made use more of my time, I guess. Or even worked less. I worked way too much. Really? Well, people will be like, I wish I worked and made more money. So I lived home with my parents. My parents are Indian. So like, everything’s like handed to you. Which kind of is me. But um, yeah, I mean, I did an internship Monday through Friday, and then Saturday and Sundays. I don’t think I’ve told you this. Or anyone. Nobody knows. But I worked on I worked at Walgreens to get a job. Yeah. Yeah. And then my parents, like they have a liquor store. So I also helped them out. Just like, I wish I just took out time for myself, because now I feel like I’m back in and it’s even more like, times 10. Now,

32:04
as veterans to being out of college for a while and co founder and I she actually does this better than I do. You got to take those personal days. Amen. No. I took off last year from work six, or eight. And half of them were like, because I was actually like, flew. And I wish I would have taken more personal days. Yeah. You know, just like let me have a day to like, let me fold laundry and stuff.

32:32
No, absolutely. And the thing is like I live at home with my parents. So it’s like my mom’s basically a stay at home mom. So she’s nagging me in my ear. Like we had MLK off. Where’s your room? a mess? You have a day off? Why do you wear clothes everywhere? your bathroom? Maybe you should work on this. Maybe you should work on that. And I’m just like, literally screaming Can you shut up? I think it was every mom. That’s every mom. But it’s like feel like there’s and I love it when she goes to the store. So I don’t tell her when I get home. Because like so if when I get home, that’s when she gets home to she’s like, Oh, we need to see my daughter. No one because she lagging

33:10
it off my ear. One day, you’re still young. You just graduated things will happen? Where were you getting things that you want gradually? I guess for me, the thing i wish i revert back to is definitely being not saving money but being better with my money, if that makes sense. things because I was a part of like two pyramid schemes in college. Wait, really? Yeah. Well, when I was like, What am I, you know, like, I take that back. That’s kind of pyramid schemes. They’re really good ones and they’re really bad ones but I think payment schemes like one was like was Herbalife not I think it started with a V but it was just like some like juicing and powder meals and kind of thing and another one was like selling knives like door to door. And so I had friends that did that too. Yeah, which was, I mean, the cod that their pitches are really good. And I was like, you don’t make a ton of money and kind of thing. But I just, I sucked at it. You know, I’ve used like, literally, I sold maybe about a good bit of knives. But the drivetime I was cooking with the knives they gave us like was a sample set. They’re really really good, but I couldn’t.

34:25
Yeah, here we are now.

34:28
I know that’s that’s the crazy thing. Like all the you know, things we’ve like done on our pass. Let us to be in the same room right now. If we have his glasses on top of college, if you had to go back and change your major, different profession you wouldn’t change it. I’m so happy now. Like I couldn’t predict like my mother was like, mad when I changed my major. And I remember like when I told her I was still afraid to tell her mind because like she was like dude For me, because like she wants to be a vet and like she didn’t and she like we had like this whole plan for our kennel and like continuing to, to show dogs. So when I told her I sent her an email on my phone for two days, because I was so afraid. And I’m like, you’re really mad at me, but and I cried, but it’s okay because like, I’m happy now. Everything works out the way it should be and you should prioritize your own happiness appears so happy when I think four major because I came in I came into college, I was like theater, performing arts major. And then like, you’re not gonna make any money kind of thing. And that got me paranoid. So I changed it to chemistry to appease them being a doctor and then like my head exploded because just so much stuff. But if I were to go back, I think I, you know, I think I was stuck with with theater. And how like business as a minor because like, I’m all I even now I’m thinking about like, oh, let me see open columns for like plays and bands because you know, something or someone like do you know, you should have some Akita? Yeah, yeah, I heard. No, I didn’t. I didn’t, I didn’t. But she used to work. Makita used to work here. I think the last time I saw her was a mutual friend’s baby shower. And then she had to play. And I think what it was actually then when I saw her is that Yo, I’m in a play and I’m like, Oh my god, like, I’ve applied not gonna like, I know. I know. I also didn’t know like, the gdb. I think I made Oh, yeah, I was I was Shakespearean or trains. I did about to know I only did one tour because I tell you on Ranger. Yeah. They really liked my voice. My experience was we told him I mean, he probably told us, right, but we used to call him the mayor,

36:50
their mayor. Because, okay, so you know, I say good morning and everything like that. So I think I don’t know people weren’t saying good morning actually heard of laughs Yeah, yeah. People want to say good morning and then office. So I would lose because my desk is slower in the back. So and I’ll get here at like nine a 45 kind of thing. People you guys are already here. So just walk in like Morning. Morning. Morning. Morning. Morning. Good thing, because like, I can’t not walk. Because I guess I’m extroverted. And I have FOMO fear of missing out. I just kind of it’s fun. I think it’s very friendly. I just say good morning to everyone. Because you know, yeah, I could be the first person to say good morning, and better, and I don’t say it like really aggressively morning. I’m like, because you can’t really say good morning really aggressive. Unless you say really aggressive.

37:41
I used to do this thing where I was like, each day I’m going to give someone a compliment. That Yeah, cuz I know.

37:50
I used to do it because they’re getting brighter. You know? Like, whatever it is like I love your earrings. Thank you Your h&m you look down every two seconds you like your

38:02
love you love the shirt.

38:06
Yeah, so just you know, brighten someone’s day up like yeah, maybe you didn’t think your earrings. were cute. Now. Now you do. If you don’t know, I knew this one. That’s why I wore Do we have last thoughts? We should just like wrap it up.

38:20
Do great kids do wonderful things. I will talk about what to do during college. If you want to be successful after college. I don’t know. I mean made me I’m not saying I’m successful.

38:30
But like we are on the up and up we on the up and up. Yeah, we’re getting. We’re getting we’re getting there. Yeah. last thoughts can be a go getter. It puts your happiness first. That’s my last thoughts.

38:44
My thoughts is gonna be more productive as I say not as I do. Try to make your hobbies into a career. You know, if you if you really can do it, you should do it because the end of the day. It’s gonna make you happy. Thanks for watching this episode of Tea With Kea.
